The site runs on the latest version of Magento and scores 94 out of 100 on Google’s Online Pagespeed tool.

Google Have Caught Up With Me!

It’s taken Google an extra couple of years but they’ve now rolled out functionality, which whilst different in name, is similar to my original “POP Conversion” idea. You can read the official Google blog post here.

You can find this new search funnel functionality in the “Customise Column” section of the Adwords interface and will need to add it to manually add it to your reports.

Why Is This Important

Because the “last click wins” method of attributing credit to campaigns, keywords and Ad Groups is seriously flawed. Even more so now that we live in a multi device environment.

For example, you might be targeting generic phrases that don’t appear to convert very well but in reality they play a significant part in a visitors conversion path. They just don’t get any credit for those conversions because they aren’t generally the last click prior to conversion.

As we collect data over the coming weeks we’ll report back in more detail.

Adwords and Google Analytics Are Now Friends

Google has today announced that you’ll now be able to view a number of key Google Analytics metrics in the Adwords interface alongside all of your existing Adwords metrics. You can read the original Google Post here.

This is one of those simple features that makes a big difference to my day to day work.

In fact, I can’t help thinking that it’s only a matter of time before the link between Adwords and Analytics is completely seamless.

It’s currently used by almost 15% of Alexa’s “top 1 million” websites and accounts for 22% of all new websites. Whilst WordPress is still referred to as a blogging platform you might be surprised to learn that it’s also the most popular CMS (Content Management System) available, more popular than dedicated CMS platforms like Joomla and Drupal.

And at Netpowered we absolutely love it! Its templating system allows us to produce visually stunning websites for our clients without the high costs typically associated with bespoke development.

This is the new DiamondLogistics.co.uk website and I think you’ll agree that it looks fantastic and importantly does not look like a blog. In fact, there’s no obvious way of knowing that this site or any of the other sites we produce run on WordPress.

The brief that we received from this client was to design a clean, simple site with a modern feel. The primary objective of the new website is to encourage visitors to request a quote or get in touch via the websites optimised enquiry forms.

First impressions are that it’s certainly different and is going to take some getting used to. We actually struggled to find a “keyword” report to start with! However, in a similar fashion to the new Adwords interface we suspect that perseverance will reward us with the discovery of exciting new features.

1) Create your static block in the admin system:

cms > static block > add new block

Give your static block a Block Title, an Identifier and select the store view that you wish it to appear on.

Enable your static block and add some content.

This is an example of a static block:

Block title: testblock
Identifier: testblock
Store view: All store views
Status: Enabled
Content This is a test block

2) Save your block and go to CMS > Pages > Homepage

3a) If you want your block in the left column add the following code to Design > Layout Update XML

Note: If you do not want you block to appear after everything in that column change the after=”-” section of the code. e.g. after=”cart_sidebar” would display the new block below the cart before=”cart_sidebar” would display the new block above the cart

Home Outlet Superstore approached Netpowered with an intial catalog size of 250+ products.

Working closely with Home Outlet Superstore, NetPowered have now launched an e-commerce store with a fully bespoke design powered by the flexible, open-source  platform Magento.  Packed full of functionality, this platform will allow Home Outlet Superstore to scale the number of products on their site via an easy to use admin system.  The site has been optimised for speed and has been designed to be conversion friendly.

Netpowered are now working alongside Home Outlet Superstore to generate traffic to the site using a variety of techniques including Google Adwords advertising, Google Product Search and SEO.
